Silvaco SURGE: Users Global Event

Silvaco SURGE 2026 ran online in four regions between February 24 and March 19, and every session is now in the archive.

What SURGE is

What users built, and what's next in the tools

Silvaco SURGE brings together the engineers who develop and design semiconductors with Silvaco’s simulation software and IP. You hear how other teams used the tools on real work, and where those tools go next. More than 1,000 users and prospects joined the 2023 editions.

Sessions

Tracks run from process and device development to circuit design, verification and IP. The applications range from power devices and displays to memory, automotive and IoT, with high-performance computing and 5G/6G alongside. Most of the 2026 program came from outside Silvaco, with Micron, GlobalFoundries and Fraunhofer ISIT among the speakers.

Keynotes and panels

Keynotes widen the view to trends across systems, silicon and applications, and to the design problems your team is likely to meet next. In 2026, Micron’s Gurtej Sandhu gave the keynote, on how memory innovation drives chip technology for AI.

SURGE and Events

SURGE is what Silvaco runs. Events is where Silvaco appears, at conferences and symposia outside organizers host, from SISPAD to IEDM.

What people ask about Silvaco SURGE

What is SURGE?

SURGE stands for Silvaco UseRs Global Event. It's the user conference Silvaco organizes itself, one regional edition at a time. Customers, partners and researchers show process, device and circuit work done in Silvaco tools, and Silvaco engineers present roadmaps and tool updates. The 2026 program had 13 talks across three technical tracks.

Each region gets its own edition and date. In 2026 all four ran online: USA on February 24, EMEA two days later, Japan on March 5 and China on March 19. Before that, SURGE ran in January 2025 and between October and December in both 2023 and 2022. No date is set yet for the next cycle.

Registration opens on the SURGE page for each regional edition once a cycle is announced. The 2025 and 2026 editions were held online, so joining meant no travel. After each event its edition stays in the archive, agenda included, for anyone who couldn't attend live.

Silvaco engineers give some of the talks, mostly roadmaps and tool updates. Most come from people who use the tools: in 2026, outside speakers gave nine of the thirteen, from Micron, GlobalFoundries, Teradyne, Fraunhofer ISIT, X-FAB, iDEAL Semiconductor, Zhejiang University and Dassault Systèmes.

Yes. Every regional edition since 2022 keeps an archive page with its agenda. Each of the 2026 talks has an abstract and a session recording you can watch at any time, from Micron's memory keynote to X-FAB's breakdown-voltage study on a 375V partial SOI LDNMOS.

Mostly virtual. All six 2022 editions ran online, and so did every edition in 2025 and 2026. The exception was 2023, when Japan met in person on November 28 while the USA, Korea, EMEA, Taiwan/Singapore and China editions stayed virtual. Silvaco hasn't set the format for its next cycle.
