Silvaco evaluation kit: what’s included and how it runs

Know how long a Silvaco evaluation lasts and what you’ll sign, before you commit engineering time to one.

How a Silvaco evaluation runs, step by step

There’s no free download and no self-serve trial. Every Silvaco evaluation begins with the Request
Evaluation / Demo form and runs on your own data.

01

Send the request

Fill in the Request Evaluation / Demo form with your process node, your foundry and the problem you want tested. Say what you can bring, whether that’s measured data, a netlist or the process flow itself.

02

Sign the agreements

The Evaluation License Agreement licenses the software for the evaluation, and its Exhibit A pins down the products, the site, the dates and the pass criteria. Silvaco’s Mutual NDA covers the confidential information each side shares.

03

An application engineer builds your case

Your data goes to a named Silvaco application engineer, who builds the device structure or model from it. What you test is your own problem, set up by someone who now knows it well.

04

Run it on your own hardware

The software runs under license on your designated machines, at the site named in Exhibit A, for up to 30 days.

05

Make the call

Go or no-go: you decide, against the technical metrics in Exhibit A.

What the evaluation license covers

The Evaluation License Agreement sets these terms, and Exhibit A fills in yours. Forward
that one page to whoever signs off the decision: it lists the products, the timeline and the
metrics you’ll judge against.

How long it runs

30 days from the agreement’s effective date, at most. Anything longer needs Silvaco’s approval, given in writing and ahead of time.

Which software

Whichever Silvaco products Exhibit A names, with their support documentation.

Where it runs

On designated HostIDs at the one site Exhibit A names, within a 50-mile (80 km) radius unless Silvaco approves otherwise.

Who supports you

Technical questions go to the application engineer who built your case.

When it ends

You stop using the software, send back or destroy each copy, and certify it in writing. Your evaluation report is the exception, and its results stay with you.

What it can’t be used for

Internal evaluation only. You can’t use it for product development or keep tape-outs from it, and the results stay inside your company.

Two agreements, and what each one covers

Both are fillable PDF forms.

Silvaco Mutual Non-Disclosure Agreement

Covers confidential information passing in either direction, your device data included. The agreement runs three years, and each disclosure stays protected for five. Source code, RTL, netlists and trade secrets have no five-year limit.

Silvaco evaluation questions

How long does a Silvaco evaluation last?

Thirty days at most, counted from the Evaluation License Agreement’s effective date. Silvaco can approve a longer term, in writing and in advance. Your own timeline and success metrics sit in the agreement’s Exhibit A, which you complete with Silvaco before the evaluation starts, so everyone judges the result against the same numbers.

The products named in the Evaluation License Agreement’s Exhibit A, and their support documentation, licensed to designated HostIDs at a single site. A named application engineer is assigned to it. The same exhibit records your timeline, the person in charge of the evaluation, and the technical metrics your go/no-go decision rests on.

The Evaluation License Agreement already binds you to keep the software, and the results of evaluating it, confidential. Silvaco’s Mutual NDA goes further: it protects what both sides share, including your device data, for five years from each disclosure, and longer for source code, netlists and trade secrets. It’s the one to read if you’re sending measured data or netlists.

Yes. The application engineer assigned to your evaluation builds it from your own data, so every question lands with someone who already has your case open. The agreement supplies the software itself as is, without warranty, so raise any doubt about fit during the evaluation, not after it.

Once you’ve made the go/no-go decision against the Exhibit A metrics, all use of the software ends. Every copy is returned or destroyed, which you certify in writing. Of what the evaluation produced, you keep only the results in your evaluation report, and those can’t go to anyone outside your company.

Use the Request Evaluation / Demo form, giving your node, foundry and the data you have to work with. There’s no trial download to install first. A Silvaco application engineer picks it up from there, once the agreements are signed.
