Enabling TCAD for TFT, LCD & OLED Display Designs

This webinar will provide an insight into different TCAD-based simulation techniques that designers of TFT, LCD and OLED display can make use of. First, we will discuss both electrical and optical TCAD simulations of LED/OLED diodes. Next, we will explore LCD simulation and analysis including calculation of transmission patterns at various wavelengths and applied voltages. Lastly, we will discuss how to model device degradation in amorphous a-IGZO TFT devices which is the most important issue when large area and high definition pixel are designed.

  • TCAD simulation of LED/OLED diodes including J-V and I-L characteristics, and internal and external quantum efficiencies
  • Learn about techniques to simulate and analyze Liquid Crystal Displays
  • Simulation of TFT degradation in the amorphous semiconductor a-IGZO
    • TCAD models for degradation in an oxide semiconductor
      • Mechanisms of degradation
      • Process simulation of hydrogen thermal diffusion
      • multi-state trap model/ion reaction-diffusion model

Presenter

Steve Broadbent is a Senior TCAD Applications Engineer at Silvaco Boston. He has been working for Silvaco for 18 years, supporting customers and their use of TCAD for a wide range of materials, processes, and device applications from CMOS to QWIPs, and from HEMTs to Lasers and OLEDs. Steve holds a BA in Physics from Pomona College and an MS in physics from the University of Maryland.

Matthias Roschke is a Senior Software Developer working at Silvaco Headquarters in Santa Clara, CA. He has been working for Silvaco for 17 years, developing 3D TCAD, electro migration and optical tools. Before that, he worked on various other simulation applications, including weather simulation and nuclear power station simulators. He holds a Bachelor of Science degree from the University of Waterloo (Canada), a Master of Engineering from Carleton University (Canada) and a Doctorate in Electrical Engineering from the Technical University Ilmenau (Germany).

Sungwon Kong is Senior TCAD Application Engineer working at Silvaco Headquarters in Santa Clara, CA. He has been supporting TCAD application in the display area at Silvaco Korea since 1996.
