Modern TCAD is used in a wide array of applications: CMOS, Power\/RF Devices, Optoelectronics\/Photonics, Sensor and Display design, and MEMS.<\/p>\n<p>However, TCAD is a challenging skill to learn and master. TCAD combines complex semiconductor device physics with numerical methods to solve difficult problems. The benefit of TCAD is that these types of difficult problems are often too complex for engineers to calculate via their own analytical methods, or alternatively difficult, costly or impossible to measure empirically in the lab.<\/p>\n<p>In this webinar Silvaco hosts an esteemed guest lecturer, Dr. Hugh Barnaby, Professor EECE at Arizona State University. His primary research focuses on the analysis, modeling and experimental characterization of extreme environment effects in semiconductor materials, devices and integrated circuits. As part of this research, he also develops design and processing techniques that enable the reliable operation of electronics in these environments.<\/p>\n<p>In addition, Barnaby has ongoing research activities in wireless (RF and optical) IC and data converter design, radiation-enabled compact modeling, and memristor technologies and applications. He has been with Silvaco for 5 years, with responsibilities including presales and support of Silvaco TCAD customers for a wide variety of applications including: Advanced CMOS, Display Technologies, Sensors and Power\/RF devices. Additionally, Garrett has lead multiple research proposals and collaborations for Silvaco, working with both academic and commercial institutions.
