TCAD Usability: DeckBuild and Virtual Wafer Fab

This webinar will give a demonstration of the tools DeckBuild and Virtual Wafer Fab, which are the front end GUI tools to run TCAD simulations. We will show how to setup simulation runs based on browsing through and selecting one of the existing examples. Editing techniques ranging from manual editing to using the syntax support dialogs will be pointed out. Visualization of 2D and 3D structures will be shown. The webinar will also demonstrate how to setup Design of Experiments and optimization experiments using the Virtual Wafer Fab (VWF). We will show how to run experiments on a single SMP workstation and also how to balance the computation load on a cluster of workstations.

What attendees will learn:

  • Learn how to use DeckBuild to create and run a simulation deck
  • Learn how to use VWF to setup parallel simulations
  • Demonstrate an upgrade path from Athena to Victory Process
  • Types of VWF experiments
    • Modes of operation: database versus filemode
    • Defining split points
    • Setting up a DOE from a pre-defined sampling strategy and define manual samples
    • Setting up an optimization experiment
  • Job farming with VWF
    • Running simulations on the local workstation
    • Using a cluster of workstations to run simulations
