TCAD Simulation of Organic Optoelectronic Devices

This webinar will introduce Radiant developed as an integrated simulation environment of LED and OLED devices and will focus on an OLED, which is getting much attention in the field of displays and lighting applications for its excellent efficiency, color quality and color tunability. This webinar will also cover electrical and optical simulations of multilayer OLED devices for the development of White OLED.

What attendees will learn:

  • TCAD simulation of Organic LED
    • Simulations required in the development of Oragnic LED
    • Theoretical background (Electrical simulation, Optical simulation)
  • An integrated simulation environment for the LED/OLED devices
    • What is Radiant
    • Features
    • Areas of simulations Radiant will cover
    • Simulation flow (Electrical simulation, Optical simulation)
  • Examples
    • Electrical simulation of a multilayer OLED device
    • Optical simulation of a multilayer OLED device
    • FDTD simulation of light propagation in an OLED device
  • Summary and future enhancement

Presenter

Steve Broadbent received a BA in physics from Pomona College and an MS in physics from the University of Maryland. He then worked as a “beltway bandit” contractor to NASA Goddard Space Flight Center for infrared sensors for space and atmospheric applications.

He joined Hughes Aircraft in El Segundo as a staff physicist to work on infrared focal plane arrays for military applications. After joining the Rockwell Science Center as a staff physicist, he worked on hybrid infrared focal plane arrays with cryogenic CMOS for space and astronomical applications. He also participated in the use of TCAD to develop a silicon IGBT for motor drives.

He liked TCAD so much that he joined Silvaco as a Senior TCAD Applications Engineer, where he has been for 18 years. He supports customers and their use of TCAD for a wide range of materials, processes and device applications from CMOS to QWIPs, and from HEMTs to Lasers and OLEDs. He has worked with TCAD for 30 years – from Stanford’s Pisces IIb to Silvaco’s Victory tools.
