TCAD Solution for Flexible Display

Display devices have been developed for many years to create the high speed and high resolution display panels required for TVs, mobile phone, and other consumer electronics. Each pixel in a panel consists of a thin film transistor for switching as well as a driver and an organic light emitting diode for light source in AMOLED devices, or a liquid crystal display in AMLCD devices. Among various types of transistor, polysilicon thin film transistors are the most popular for mass production because of high mobility as well as better stability than other transistor materials. To achieve wearable and foldable display devices; flexible and stretchable electronic component are required; this requires a highly stable backplane device on a flexible substrate capable of surviving external mechanical stresses such as bending, stretching, and other types of deformation. The most critical issue in such pixel design is instability due to threshold voltage shift caused by electrical, thermal, and mechanical stresses.

In this webinar, we review the basic elements of device design for flexible displays, including the key factors affecting device characteristics. We will show how to improve performance and stability of device components using Silvaco’s leading-edge TCAD solutions for the display industry.

What attendees will learn:

  • Capabilities of Silvaco TCAD solution for display industry
  • How to perform TCAD simulation for TFT, OLED, LED and Liquid Crystal (LC) technologies
  • Key parameters affecting Display device performance
  • Validation and verification of TCAD simulation results with published data
